Allianz Australia says Alison Smith will join in January as GM for distribution.

She is currently Aon Australia head of national, based in Melbourne, according to her LinkedIn page.

“Alison’s experience across both broking and underwriting gives her a strong understanding of broker and customer needs,” chief GM for personal injury and commercial Julie Mitchell said today.

“Her excellent track record leading teams, delivering growth, and her deep industry knowledge and relationships will be critical as we continue to strengthen both our market position and value we create for stakeholders across the Australian commercial and personal injury market.”

Ms Smith has been with Aon for more than 22 years, and took her current position in January 2022. Before joining Aon in 2004, she was in London with Zurich as a professional lines underwriter.

A spokesperson for Aon says the broker will begin a search for Ms Smith’s replacement.

Allianz says Leigh Ebzery will remain acting GM for distribution throughout the transition, then return to his role as GM for underwritten and client management.
