Insurer-charity tie-up helps people in crisis
Allianz has partnered with charity Orange Sky, which provides hot showers and laundry services to homeless or displaced people.
The insurer says the charity will be the principal partner in its Community Care program, strengthening support for people experiencing hardship, including those recovering from natural disasters.
The announcement coincides with an Allianz survey of more than 1000 Australians affected by natural disasters, which finds 60% are concerned about the increased frequency and severity of events.
About 94% of respondents believe businesses should contribute to disaster recovery and 88% say it is very or extremely important for natural disaster victims to have access to free support services.
Access to shower facilities (cited by 63% of respondents) and free laundry facilities (51%) are among the most important needs when recovering from disasters, alongside safe, welcoming spaces for connection and supportive conversations (56%).
Allianz Australia chief GM of corporate affairs and governance Libby Davidson said: “More than nine in 10 Australians told us it’s important for businesses to contribute to recovery efforts, particularly through practical, community-based support.
“Orange Sky creates those moments every day.”
The announcement follows Allianz's recent partnerships with Rural Aid and Outside the Locker Room.
