Allianz event hub delivers ‘co-ordinated, data-informed response’
A new Event Response Centre in Sydney will co-ordinate Allianz’s activity during and after severe weather incidents.
The hub helps identify where impacts are emerging, prioritise affected communities and deliver earlier support for customers.
Chief claims officer Luke Whenman says the high-tech centre strengthens Allianz’s capacity to monitor, assess and manage support resources during extreme events.
It serves as a hub for claims, operations and disaster recovery teams, using real-time weather intelligence and live claims data to provide comprehensive oversight.
“This integrated approach enables us to assess the severity and geographic spread of an event, identify the communities most likely to require support, and co-ordinate an appropriate response before, during and after impact,” Mr Whenman told insuranceNEWS.com.au.
Systems and data from ICEYE, Ubimet, Weatherwatch, Windy, the Bureau of Meteorology and Hailtracker are used in the centre. Together, they provide granular, real-time insights for timely and targeted decision-making, according to Allianz.
Mr Whenman says claims handlers, assessors, customer support specialists and recovery teams are mobilised in alignment, giving customers cohesive support, including emergency relief payments, temporary accommodation and counselling.
“For brokers and intermediaries, the [centre] provides early visibility of developing events, structured communication channels and confidence that a co-ordinated, data-informed response capability is in place on behalf of their clients,” Mr Whenman said.
“It’s this level of connectivity, informed by the technology, combining data insights and human-centred care, that we’re most proud of.”
National manager for disaster and recovery Scott Cooper says the centre – at Allianz’s Carrington Street offices – involves the “right people working together at the right time”, rather than in an isolation.
