‘Always ready, always on’: Europ Assistance rebrands

Generali says its Europ Assistance and employee benefits divisions have rebranded as Redion under “one platform, one vision, to be the world’s premier care partner”.

The name reflects an “always ready, always on” commitment, the insurer says.

The businesses will share a data and technology and operations strategy, and will have pooled AI investment.

The move comes after travel specialist Europ Assistance Australia was given a licence to operate as a general insurer last month.

Europ Assistance was founded in 1963 in France to provide emergency medical care and vehicle repairs, and soon expanded into Italy, Germany and Spain. Today, Generali says 45% of its revenue is generated outside Europe.

Australia and New Zealand are priority growth areas after it entered the markets in 2022 with the acquisitions of InsureandGo and Tick, which supported more than 1.3 million travellers last year via 200 local team members.

Redion Australia and New Zealand CEO Justin Sebire – who took over from Anna Gladman at Europ Assistance last November – says the new name will “give a clearer identity as a global care company with a strong local presence”.

Travellers will benefit from “deeper, broader expertise at every stage of their journey, knowing we’re by your side, always ready and always on”, he says.

Overall, Redion has more than 12,000 employees, operations in more than 190 countries and records €5.8 billion ($9.43 billion) in annual business volume.

It is the world’s No.1 in employee benefits and No.2 in assistance and travel insurance, Generali says.

Antoine Parisi – who has been Europ Assistance CEO for 12 years – is now Redion group CEO, based in Paris. The brand is new but the platform is not, he says, because the organisations have operated as one for nearly three years, “pooling technology, aligning ambitions”.

“To every member of my teams ... you are being given a name that finally matches who you already are,” Mr Parisi said on LinkedIn. “Care delivered consistently, at scale, is one of the hardest things to build, and one of the most valuable. Today, we give that conviction a brand: Redion.”

The platform offers travel insurance; embedded insurance for financial institutions, travel groups and multinational employers; emergency and medical assistance; employee protection including life, disability, accident and medical; and health and mobility solutions.

Contracts, service teams, phone numbers and service-level agreements are unchanged.
