Delta makes leadership changes after CEO departure

Delta Insurance Group has made Teresa Pollard interim CEO, taking over from Kent Chaplin who stepped down earlier this month.

In other leadership changes announced today, head of underwriting Joleene Dawson has become chief underwriting officer and New Zealand MD Andrew Beaton will take the newly created regional role of property head.

Mr Beaton’s previous position goes to NZ chief underwriting officer Dinesh Murali.

“The appointments are designed to support a strategic transformation program that will strengthen how Delta operates, making the underwriting agency even easier to trade with,” the company said.

Ms Pollard is a long-term shareholder of Delta and chaired the agency’s business innovation group until her appointment as interim CEO.

Delta chair Ryan Eagar said on LinkedIn: “Her experience in unlocking growth through scale and innovation, combined with Delta’s strong insurance capability, positions the business to continue its growth trajectory while ensuring continuity through the leadership transition.

“We look forward to continuing to work closely with our broker partners as Delta enters the next phase of our journey.”

Ms Pollard says the agency has “a great opportunity ahead to improve our platforms, simplify workflows and enhance the broker experience, which will help Delta scale confidently”.

Mr Chaplin, who became group CEO in October 2022, left to pursue governance and advisory roles.

“Under [his] leadership, the group experienced significant growth and success across the Asia-Pacific,” Mr Eagar said.

“The Delta Insurance Group’s board and shareholders are grateful for Kent’s contributions in building Delta into the … independent MGA group it is today, and we wish him continued success.”
