Entrepreneurs talk tech success at Insurance News conference
Two company founders will take to the stage for an enlightening discussion at the upcoming Beyond the Buzzwords insurtech conference.
Hutch Underwriting CEO Robin Johnson and Entsia CEO Alistair McElligott will discuss their respective journeys and lessons learnt along the way.
Hutch was set up in 2021 by former local Axa XL CEO Mr Johnson and COO and chief underwriting officer Dominique Vagi.
After starting with strata, it now offers a range of products and recently launched a ground-breaking AI service, Dawn.
Innovative insurtech Entsia, which this year celebrated its 15th anniversary, focuses on making it easier to launch, manage and distribute complex commercial insurance products at scale.
The full-day conference – organised by Insurance News and Insurtech Australia, and supported by gold partners Instanda, Endava and Entsia – will be held in Sydney on July 29.
The event will also feature Bizcover CEO Michael Gottlieb, who will explore how to manage agentic customers, and IVAA MD Matthew McHutchison discussing deepfakes and synthetic fraud.
Other experts included are Insurtech Australia CEO Simone Dossetor, WTW cyber and technology industry leader Benjamin Di Marco, Actuaries Institute council member Anthony Lowe, and Stella Insurance MD Victoria Smith.
This year, the audience will split into smaller groups for a series of more intimate masterclasses, for greater interaction and in-depth discussion. Session topics include quantum computing readiness, managing third-party cyber risk and accelerating electric vehicle adoption.
After lunch, the great tech debate will see teams argue whether tech is the “golden thread” that finally binds promises to delivery, or a “digital wedge” driving us further from the customer.
Finally, the 2030 Roadmap panel will include QBE Ventures global head of emerging technology Alex Taylor, Allianz chief information officer Joanne Walker and Insurance Advisernet systems GM Steve Dymond.
The event will close with afternoon tea and networking drinks. Attendees will earn eight ANZIIF CIP points and 4.25 NIBA CPD points.
