‘Game-changer’: Hutch AI quote tool hailed as potential world first
Hutch Underwriting has launched Dawn, a groundbreaking AI service that binds via Ebix Sunrise Exchange, populates broker management systems and completes the entire quote process without manual data entry.
Brokers can submit proposal forms in any format – PDF, Word, Excel or standard email – and Dawn then emails them the premium and quote number, and uploads the quote to Sunrise for review and binding.
To proceed, the broker retrieves the quote from Sunrise, validates it and binds.
“Our new Dawn service is – I believe – a global first in allowing a broker to transact an end-to-end insurance placement without any keying, neither in our system for the quote nor in their own for the booking,” Hutch CEO Robin Johnson said today.
“I’m extremely proud of the team for launching this game-changer. We’ve been using AI extensively in the business for over 12 months, but this is the first externally visible use of it. The future has arrived.”
Mr Johnson says many brokers love the back-end convenience of Sunrise but not the manual typing of the submission.
“We’ve invested in Dawn so they can have the best of both worlds,” he said.
Brokers do not need to use a Hutch proposal, because Dawn will process any market form, and if vital data is missing the broker can complete the fields once the quote is opened in Sunrise.
Mr Johnson told insuranceNEWS.com.au that brokers who have tested the system have been “blown away”, and he is “unbelievably excited” by its potential.
Oracle Group GM Carl Rumble, who took part in the pilot, agrees Dawn is “impressive”.
“I emailed a non-Hutch prop form and within an hour or so I had terms and Hutch’s Sunrise questionnaire set had been completed with 100% accuracy,” he said.
Ebix MD for Australia Philip Fourie says Dawn “reflects a strategic integration architecture built on the partnership between Hutch and Ebix ... We’re pleased to see Hutch building on that foundation.”
Dawn is already available for Hutch’s residential strata and professional indemnity products, and management liability launches on May 20. Proposal forms can be emailed to dawn@ai.hutchunderwriting.com.au.
