The Insurance Council of Australia plans to lodge its redrafted code of practice with the corporate regulator in late October, under an amended timeline.

Consultation on the draft document closed on Tuesday last week, but ICA said today it has received more submissions and feedback and is working with members to analyse and consider all contributions.

It says the timeline reflects the number, complexity and variation of submissions and feedback, some stakeholder requests to allow more time for consideration and consultation, the importance of the code to customers, and potential impacts on insurer operations.

“ICA is committed to a thorough examination process and consideration of all submissions and feedback we have received and will provide its considered response to this ahead of lodgement with ASIC,” it said.

The peak body previously said it would send the document to the Australian Securities and Investments Commission for approval in the second half of the year, after initially targeting lodgement in mid-2026.
