Insurance News backs R U OK? Day with wellness survey
The annual Insurance News Wellbeing Survey is under way, coinciding with R U OK? Day today.
The study, conducted in partnership with Allianz, supports the sharing of experiences and seeks to understand wellbeing in Australia’s insurance industry through anonymous feedback.
For every response, Insurance News will donate $1 to mental health group R U OK? – so by completing the survey, insurance professionals can support suicide prevention and open conversations about tough times.
Each year, the survey garners feedback on workloads, mood and feelings, bullying, customer behaviour, discrimination, pay, work-life balance, hours and productivity, flexibility, childcare and remote working. We ask how you’re coping, and what can be done to better support you.
Results will be shared online and in our magazine, outlining issues employers need to address.
Last year’s survey found preferential treatment and cliques, old-fashioned thinking and compliance bureaucracy were among the top industry concerns.
Many respondents said insurance was still male-dominated and had a persistent “boys’ club”.
Nepotism, ageism and “deals done in the pub” were mentioned, and a stubbornly poor public image was raised.
Those findings will be presented in detail by Insurance News MD Andrew Silcox at the AICLA/ANZIIF Claims Convention next week.
