Marsh’s head of corporate and commercial for the Pacific business Johannes D Veldsman is joining rival international brokerage Gallagher.

Mr Veldsman will join his colleague Alex Lumby, who is also making the switch from Marsh to head up Gallagher’s Australian broking operation.

Mr Veldsman, who is known in the industry as JDV, started his career in South Africa before moving to Australia with Aon in 2017.

In 2018 he joined JLT, which was acquired by Marsh the following year. Before his current role he was head of growth and digital for almost four years. 

Gallagher has confirmed Mr Veldsman’s appointment but declined to provide information on his title or start date.
