Suncorp CEO Steve Johnston will take a short period of leave as he recuperates from a medical procedure, the insurer says.

CFO Jeremy Robson will be acting CEO and Neil Wesley – currently EGM of strategy, corporate development and investor relations – will be acting CFO.

“The board wishes Steve a speedy recovery,” a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange said today.

Mr Johnston is also Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) chair.

An ICA spokesperson said Allianz MD and deputy chair Richard Feledy would act as chair while Mr Johnston recuperates.

"The ICA board wishes Steve a swift and full recovery," the spokesperson said.
