Aon powers up data centres facility

Aon has expanded the insurance capacity available through its Data Centre Lifecycle Insurance Program as investment in AI, cloud computing and hyperscale data hubs accelerates.

It says the enhanced facility combines engineering and risk advisory services with insurance capacity to support digital infrastructure projects from construction through to long-term operations.

The program now provides up to $US5 billion ($7.13 billion) of construction all risks, delay in start-up, property damage and business interruption cover backed by A-rated insurers.

The global broker has also expanded liability, cyber and project cargo capacity, including up to $US400 million ($570.66 million) for cyber and technology errors and omissions, $US500 million ($713.33 million) for project cargo, and up to $US1 billion ($1.43 billion) of terrorism cover.

Aon Risk Capital CEO Joe Peiser says digital infrastructure has become one of the world's largest and fastest-growing asset classes.

“As clients build larger and more complex data centre portfolios, they need access to greater insurance capacity alongside solutions that strengthen resilience throughout the asset life cycle,” he said.

The broker says the expansion builds on previous enhancements that lifted capacity to $US3.5 billion ($4.99 billion) and expanded support for operational facilities.
