Gallagher Re unit offers ‘single source of insight’ on digital risks

Gallagher Re has expanded its cyber capability with a new practice dedicated to AI, digital dependency and technology-driven accumulation risk across insurance portfolios.

It will offer expertise in AI liability, data centres, cyber and digital risk engineering to help insurers and reinsurers manage tech-related risks.

Global head of cyber Ian Newman will lead the digital risk practice, and Freddie Scarratt has been appointed AI liability lead in addition to his role of global deputy head of insurtech.

Luca Drane has been appointed data centres lead. They are all based in London.

“Our goal is to give clients a clearer view of where digital exposure exists, how it accumulates, and how reinsurance can support growth and resilience,” Mr Newman said.

“Clients and markets are increasingly seeking guidance on the implications of AI and digital dependency, not only within cyber but across a wide range of business lines.

“By bringing our expertise together under a dedicated digital risk practice, we can provide a single source of insight.”

Gallagher Re says the team will help clients translate complex technology exposures into actionable underwriting, accumulation and capital insights for more informed risk and reinsurance decisions.

“As businesses become increasingly reliant on shared digital infrastructure, a single technology failure can trigger losses across multiple insureds, portfolios and lines of business,” it said.

The unit will work across Gallagher Re’s global products and practices platform, as digital risk increasingly influences property, casualty and other specialty classes.
