New system promises faster underwriting

Instanda has released an AI system for commercial underwriters that it says overcomes a long-standing “compromise between time and accuracy”.

The new Instanda Max “fundamentally changes the economics” of underwriting complex assets, according to Asia-Pacific business development executive Jerry Hall.

It allows the underwriting of tens of thousands of complex assets under a single policy in real-time, bringing speed, precision and control that was not previously achievable, he says.

“For the first time, commercial line insurers can process bulk policies containing thousands of assets while still applying granular, measurable data to each individual item, supported by strong data governance, human oversight, ecosystem integration and frictionless operational AI.”

Features including quote query assistants and help with wording, including for clauses and endorsements. More features are to be added later this year.

Instanda says the system “represents a fundamental shift in how insurers ingest, categorise, manage and act on large-scale data”, and a patent is pending.

The insurtech added: “Traditional underwriting at the aggregate level can and has led to pricing inaccuracies and delayed adjustments, with changes typically addressed only at renewal.

“By empowering insurers to add, remove or update assets in real time, Instanda Max is designed to ensure that pricing and risk assessment remain continuously aligned to the underlying portfolio.”
