QBE hunts for next data chief

QBE’s executive team has a shortlist of candidates to replace Sonya Crosby, who is returning to New Zealand after two years in Sydney as chief data and analytics officer.

Scott Wynne, who has been at QBE more than eight years, most recently as head of data and AI governance, has taken the role on an interim basis.

“There’s been a lot of interest ... and I’m not surprised given this is a golden role in a fantastic business that’s not afraid to lead from the front,” Ms Crosby said.

“There’s a huge amount that’s been achieved in the transformation space, with data foundations built – business, technical and governance – and a solid stake in new and emerging technologies already accelerating business value.”

Ms Crosby will now temporarily lead QBE’s agentic program.

“New Zealand has always been a hot house for innovation, so it’s great to be supporting this creative ‘can-do’ team,” she said.
