Third-party administrator Clarion Claims has launched, founded by Drew Schnehage and Curium’s Tetiana George, and backed by Correlation Risk Partners.

CEO Ms Schnehage was Solvd Group’s head of third-party administrator business for more than six years.

“I’ve had a long time to think about what a claims business should look like if you got to build it from scratch,” she said. “I’ve spent 30 years working in other people’s claims operations. Some brilliant, some broken, most somewhere in between. Clarion is everything I’ve learnt on how to do it right.”

Clarion says it is a specialist claims manager for insurers, brokers, underwriting agencies and fleet companies.

Claims volumes and complexity are growing faster than the industry can respond with experienced people, it says, and technology without claims judgment – producing “confident, wrong decisions” – is not the answer.

“The usual answers are to throw bodies at it or throw software at it,” the insurtech said. “Neither works alone. Experienced claims professionals without good technology don’t scale. Clarion is built on both. We don’t underwrite the risk, so our only job is to handle the claim properly and give our clients a clean, honest view of their portfolio.”
