Homeware giant to offer building contents cover

Ikea will offer Urban Jungle home cover to UK customers under a new embedded insurance agreement.

“By partnering with Urban Jungle, we are bringing a simple, functional and affordable home insurance product to our customers, ensuring they have peace of mind that their homes and belongings are protected,” Ikea country customer experience manager Callum Leavy said.

“As part of our wider Life at Home services offer, this partnership helps us support customers beyond home furnishing, making everyday life at home a little easier.”

Contents insurance is available from £60 ($114) a year under the offering, Ikea’s first insurance venture in the UK.

The policies offered are contents insurance up to £120,000 ($228,440); building insurance providing up to £1 million ($1.9 million) cover as standard; and combined building and contents.

Optional add-ons are accidental damage, home emergency, out-of-home cover and legal expenses.

London-based Urban Jungle was founded in 2016 and says it has served more than 300,000 customers. It offers insurance direct or through white label partnerships.

“This partnership marks a significant milestone in Urban Jungle’s mission,” CEO Jimmy Williams said. “By joining forces with Ikea, we can bring our technology-driven, AI-powered accessible home insurance to an even wider audience.”
