New business drives WTW broking earnings
WTW’s risk and broking business earned $US1.09 billion ($1.54 billion) in revenue during the third quarter, up from $US1 billion ($1.42 billion) a year earlier.
Operating income grew to $US216 million ($307 million) from $US189 million ($268 million) as margin improved to 19.8% from 18.8%.
“Corporate risk and broking had organic revenue growth driven by strong new business activity in North America and international,” WTW said.
“Insurance consulting and technology delivered organic revenue growth primarily from strong software sales in the technology practice, partially offset by lower consulting revenue.”
Consolidated revenue in the September quarter gained 8% to $US2.46 billion ($3.49 billion) and net income was up 1% to $US309 million ($439 million).
“WTW delivered another quarter of solid results in the face of a volatile market environment, reflecting the strength and resilience of our business,” CEO Carl Hess said.
“Our strategy is working. Investments in talent, technology and innovation are differentiating WTW in the market and sustaining our momentum across the company.”
