Insurers to revisit flood-hit Ingham
The Insurance Council of Australia will return to the north Queensland town of Ingham this week to host a consultation session for disaster-hit residents.
The forum focuses on people affected by floods in February last year, but those hit by other events are invited to attend.
About 11,700 claims have been lodged relating to the floods, with insurers closing about 84% and covering more than $311 million of damage.
The forum, allowing customers to discuss claims in person with their insurers, marks the council’s fifth visit to the area since the floods.
“North Queensland has faced its fair share of extreme weather over the past 12 months – from flooding in February last year through to Tropical Cyclone Koji more recently,” ICA mitigation and extreme weather response director Liam Walter said.
“Anyone who experienced damage from any of these events is encouraged to come along and meet directly with their insurer for one-on-one support.”
The event is tomorrow at Hinchinbrook Shire Hall in Ingham from 9.30am-5pm.
People are asked to register here before attending.
