Wayne Byres will take over as Chairman of the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA) tomorrow.

He returns to the regulator after serving as secretary-general of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision for several years. His previous 13-year spell with APRA included time as EGM.

Mr Byres replaces John Laker, who led the authority for more than a decade.
