NSW government to receive strata commissions report

A critical review considering banning strata managers from accepting insurance commissions is expected to provide its final report to the NSW government on Friday.

The state’s Productivity and Equality Commission has been examining strata commission arrangements and published a consultation document in November.

Three options were presented: self-regulation, prohibition of agents accepting commissions, and banning them from buying goods and services involving commissions.

The third option could affect strata brokers taking commissions.

A similar review in Victoria, which is also considering a commission ban, has already presented a report to government, but it is yet to be made public.
