WorkCover Queensland is to close 10 small offices and move staff to its larger customer service centres at Brendale, Cannon Hill, Oxley and Logan.
It follows a review that found the offices, with between one and 11 employees, are relatively expensive to run.
“Staff can choose to relocate to any one of these large centres because a job will be available for everyone,” Chairman Glenn Ferguson said. “Alternatively, they have the option to request a redundancy.”
The closures are part of an initiative that began in 2011 to manage customers by industry rather than geographical area, he says.
A Queensland parliamentary committee is conducting a review of the workers’ compensation scheme, and is to deliver its report on May 23.
