Morgan Insurance Brokers has started operating under its own Australian financial services licence.

Director Lauren Spice says the shift marked a “big day” for the Brisbane-based brokerage.

“For us, having our own AFSL isn’t just about having a licence,” she told insuranceNEWS.com.au. “It’s about taking ownership of the business we’re building.

“We could operate as an authorised representative under another licence-holder, but that means relying on someone else’s systems, processes and approach to compliance.

“We’d rather understand it ourselves, take responsibility for it ourselves, and build it the way we believe it should be done.”

Ms Morgan started the brokerage in 2018, offering commercial insurance. The business recently added personal insurance offerings.

“We’re proud of the relationships we’ve built with our clients and the culture we’ve created for our team,” Ms Spice said.

“Having our own AFSL allows us to bring all of those things together under one vision and one set of standards. Ultimately, we want Morgan Insurance Brokers to be a business that is respected in the industry, delivers outstanding client results, creates meaningful careers for our employees, and takes full responsibility for the way it operates.”
