‘Clarity and consistency’ vow as QBE streamlines business offering

QBE will stop offering office and trade pack products from July as it moves to a single standard business cover.

The group told insuranceNEWS.com.au its standard business offer provides cover across the same core areas and has a broader range of options within a single product structure.

“The business package product provides greater flexibility to meet different business needs across a wide range of small business types,” a spokesperson said.

“This change reflects QBE’s commitment to supporting small business customers and brokers by simplifying its business packages, enabling greater ease and consistency in how cover is offered.”

In a note to brokers, QBE said the standard business product’s wording is “aligned with current market standards and customer needs”, and it has more options to tailor cover.

From October, it is expected office pack and trade pack policyholders will be offered the standard business product at renewal.

Brokers can quote on the office and trade products until June 30, provided the policy inception date is no later than that.

The move is a “direct response to market conditions, in which only a small number of policies are converted on these products relative to the standard business product”, broker team lead NSW Jacqueline Pidd wrote in the note.

“This change will streamline our customer offerings and provide clarity and consistency by simplifying how cover is defined and applied.”
