Dairy Protect promises farm-fresh approach

New brokerage Dairy Protect says it is helping farmers build financial resilience as they face one of their most challenging seasons in years.

The business was launched this month by Breakwater Insurance Brokers, which has decades of experience supporting dairy farms across west Victoria and regional SA.

“Dairy Protect offers a fresh, farmer-focused approach to insurance broking,” MD Gabrielle Toscan said.

Droughts and increased bushfire risk mean dairy farmers face financial stress and uncertainty, she says, and insurance can “feel like another pressure and drain” on resources.

“We want to give dairy farmers more control over their insurance, and make sure their cover is working for them – not just ticking a box.

“Insurance needs to be more than just a cost of doing business – it should be a tool for resilience, risk management and long-term security. It can be tempting during tough times to view insurance as an expense to trim – but this approach can leave farms dangerously exposed when they can least afford a setback.”

Dairy Protect offers no-obligation insurance reviews and drought-specific advice to dairy farmers on the most suitable cover, including farm pack, farm motor, machinery breakdown, business interruption and other key risk areas.
