Marathon manager raises more than $8k for Black Dog Institute

DLB Insurance & Risk Solutions MD Dean Bowen will run the Gold Coast Marathon in July to support men’s mental health.

“Thank you to everyone who has donated. This cause means a lot to me,” said Mr Bowen, who has so far raised $8536 for the Black Dog Institute and is running in honour of his father Ross, who died in 2022.

Mr Bowen says his preparations have involved not drinking alcohol for almost 100 days, and “taking a prolonged break has been a genuine positive. I’m already seeing the benefits and I’m excited to carry that clarity into a busy June period.

“With the current soft market conditions, being sharp and steady is important and I’m looking forward to leading the team through it.

“Last Saturday started with a 23km run at 5am after a big week at work, followed by a full day on site co-ordinating trades for our new office fitout.

“Watching the Sydney Swans with a coffee or a Coke Zero took a bit of getting used to but being top of the ladder helps.”
