Markey appoints third-generation family successor

NSW brokerage Markey Insurance Brokers says Max Markey will become EM of broking and operations.

He will oversee day-to-day leadership and operational direction, and be responsible for maintaining relationships with insurers and underwriting partners while managing his client portfolio.

Directors Steve and Simmone Markey say they will work closely with Mr Markey, their son, to support “the ongoing stability, growth and succession of the business”.

Simmone Markey said: “We are very excited and proud about this next step in Max’s career. He is an integral and important part of our Markey succession strategy ... he will be the third-generation Markey in this amazing business that was created by his grandfather Trevor Markey 54 years ago.”

Max Markey has worked two stints at the brokerage, rejoining in 2024 after a role at Hollard.

Markey was established in 1972 and is part of the AUB group. It has more than 5000 clients across personal and business insurance and personal advice services.
