PSC invests in transport specialist

PSC Insurance Brokers says it is “well positioned” for growth in the transport market after buying MA Insurance Brokers.

Envest-owned PSC says the deal – announced this week – brings together MA’s “strong experience and established client relationships in the transport sector with [our] national network, broader placement capability and expanded insurer relationships … along with additional support across risk advisory and claims”.

MA, which has started operating as PSC Transport Insurance Brokers, was established in 2021 by Barry Mathison and Mariann Illyes. They retain an equity stake and will oversee the business as managing principals under the new ownership structure.

“Their strong client relationships and experience in the transport sector complement our existing offering and further strengthen our presence in Queensland,” PSC Insurance Brokers CEO Karl Truijens said.

Mr Mathison says joining PSC Insurance Brokers provides a platform for continued growth.

“We have managed to achieve a lot on our own … we felt the time was right for us to get into a large corporate organisation to draw on the benefits associated with that,” he told insuranceNEWS.com.au.

Ms Illyes added: “Our goal is basically to grow the business. Being with PSC will definitely open up opportunities to grow and excel in this business.”
