Liberty introduces crop product
Liberty has launched an agricultural insurance product designed to protect farmers from financial loss caused by weather events including fire, hail, rain and frost.
The company – which has been underwriting agriculture and crop in Australia since 2020 through an agency agreement – will provide CropPlus itself through brokers.
Liberty Asia-Pacific leader for crisis management and weather Michael Lincoln says farmers face an increasingly complex and unpredictable climate.
“CropPlus has been designed to give farmers and their brokers confidence that when the unexpected happens, they have robust, clearly worded cover behind them,” he said.
The cover is available to seasonal and broadacre farming operations across Australia, including wheat, barley and canola growers.
Liberty, which has an experienced team of agricultural underwriters, says following the end of the agency agreement it had decided to offer the product directly through brokers, aligning with its broader go-to-market strategy.
Policies for this year’s winter growing season must be in place by September 15.
