QBE updates reconciliation plan

QBE has adopted a new Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan that it says has a greater focus on measurable outcomes and long-term impact.

The insurer launched its first action plan in 2015, with the aim of building strong foundations with Indigenous communities.

CEO Sue Houghton says the new plan reflects progress made and a commitment to go further.

“As an insurer, we recognise the role we play in supporting stronger, more resilient communities,” she said. “This plan challenges us to deepen our impact by strengthening relationships, expanding opportunities and embedding reconciliation across our core business practices.”

The Stretch RAP will focus on four key areas: strengthening workplace inclusion; improving financial and customer inclusion; expanding supplier diversity; and supporting community and climate resilience.

QBE says it will continue to prioritise partnerships and initiatives that expand employment and development opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
