Regis picks up Sphere ARs
Regis Licensing has picked up a group of authorised representatives who were with Sphere Insurance Group, which entered liquidation earlier this month.
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission register showed on Friday that 24 ARs started with Regis as of June 3. Regis, a member of Steadfast, is also a mutuals management company.
On June 5, a Sphere meeting resolved the business would be wound up, with Tracy Lee Knight from WCT Insolvency and Restructuring appointed liquidator.
The company has released no further details.
Sphere, headquartered in Mount Lofty, Queensland, was founded in 2015. The predecessor organisation was Marten Green Insurance Services.
Peter Robert Lionel Marten is listed in an ASIC company extract as director and secretary of Sphere, as well as the major shareholder.
Some ARs have been looking at other networks as problems have become apparent, but the sudden shutdown of Sphere “blindsided” many of those affected, sources have told insuranceNEWS.com.au.
Some have joined the Metrix Connect AR network, while other intermediary businesses including BMIA Broker Network and Action Insurance Brokers have indicated on LinkedIn that they could provide a new home for those affected by Sphere’s collapse.
“With over 30 years’ broking experience and more than 20 years hosting ARs, we already have everything you need to transition to a strong, reputable and safe broking house,” Action co-founder Jon Stack said.
insuranceNEWS.com.au has contacted Mr Marten and Sphere seeking further comment.
