SCTI names new chief

Auckland-based Southern Cross Travel Insurance has appointed Carole Tokody as CEO, effective February.

Ms Tokody, who formerly spent eight years at Cover-More, will move from Queensland to New Zealand for the role. She replaces interim CEO Anita Hawthorne.

“Carole’s credentials are outstanding, and we believe she is the right fit for our organisation as we embed an ambitious growth strategy for Australasia,” SCTI said.

Ms Tokody was most recently Royal Flying Doctor Service chief commercial officer. Her roles at Cover-More, which she departed in 2019, included global direct and fintech CEO based in London, US and Canada CEO in New York, director of sales for Asia-Pacific in Sydney, and director of e-commerce Asia in Brisbane.

She has also held senior roles at Allianz Global Assistance and Manulife.

“SCTI has a respected history and a strong purpose-led foundation, and it’s a privilege to join an organisation committed to supporting travellers across New Zealand and Australia,” she said.

Jo McCauley was  SCTI CEO until August and is now Medical Assurance Society CEO.
