Coalition’s deepfake response added to Upcover
Commercial insurance platform Upcover has added a Coalition service designed for clients hit by AI-generated deepfakes that lead to fraud or brand damage.
The deepfake response endorsement gives access to specialist support for reputational harm and a “clear response plan”.
Eligible cyber policyholders can access forensic analysis, legal help to remove fraudulent content from online platforms and crisis communications.
“A convincing deepfake of a founder or CEO can wipe out trust with customers, investors or staff overnight,” Upcover COO Anish Sinha said.
“Given the pace of innovation with AI, it’s only a matter of time before these attacks become more prolific and begin to systematically target smaller Australian enterprises.”
Sydney-based Upcover completed a $19 million funding round a year ago. It says it serves more than 60,000 businesses through more than 40 underwriters.
The platform enables businesses to secure cyber, professional indemnity, fintech, healthtech and property cover.
Coalition head of business development for Australia Connor McKay says deepfakes are the “new frontier” in cybercrime.
“By bringing specialised deepfake forensics and legal support to Upcover clients, we’re ensuring that Australian businesses aren’t just insured against the fallout but are actively supported in reclaiming their identity and reputation,” he said.
Cyber insurer Coalition offers cover in Australia, the US, the UK, Canada, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and France.
