Allianz Australia is providing disaster recovery support to farming families under a new three-year partnership with charity Rural Aid.

The insurer says 34 employees recently joined the charity’s farm recovery event in Chinchilla, Queensland, to help farmers affected by drought, flood and microburst damage.

The partnership is part of Allianz’s Community Care program, launched in April to help residents and businesses hit by natural disasters.

“As a national partner of Rural Aid’s farm recovery events, Allianz Australia is helping support farms across the country through a range of practical recovery activities,” the insurer said.

Allianz staff at the Chinchilla event worked with farming families and Rural Aid volunteers on tasks such as clearing storm debris, fencing and sheep marking.

“These jobs are critical but often overwhelming for families managing the aftermath of disasters alone,” Allianz said. “For our team, it was incredibly rewarding work. By being on the ground, they saw first-hand how major disasters impact farming communities and what recovery truly means.

“This is just the beginning as we prepare for our next farm recovery event.”

Rural Aid CEO John Warlters says the partnership will help the charity “make sure more farming families receive the right assistance at the right time”.
