NRMA Insurance has opened applications for the latest round of Climate-Smart Innovation Grants.

The IAG brand says its Help Fund will provide up to $500,000 across eight grants for projects that help communities manage a changing climate.

“We’re helping turn innovative ideas into real-world outcomes that strengthen resilience and preparedness,” EM community impact and customer advocate Jennifer Cobley said.

“This year we’ve expanded the program to support both emerging founders and established climate resilience organisations. We want to help accelerate solutions with the potential to create meaningful, lasting impact for Australian communities.”

Four $100,000 growth grants are available for established climate resilience solutions ready to scale or deploy.

Four $25,000 emerging founder grants will go to projects ready to be implemented in Australian communities.

The insurer says applications from young founders, First Nations people and those from underrepresented communities are particularly encouraged.

Last year, the grants supported ventures focused on flood forecasting, energy resilience and environmental monitoring, including Brisbane's FloodMapp.

“Programs like Help Fund play an important role in helping innovators demonstrate impact, build momentum and deliver practical outcomes," FloodMapp CEO and co-founder Juliette Murphy said.

“The NRMA Insurance Help Fund enabled us to accelerate the deployment of our technology and expand its reach into communities facing increasing flood risk.”
