Munich Re Specialty has appointed Angus Kench as head of commercial claims for Australia.

Mr Kench was previously Liberty Specialty Markets VP for Asia-Pacific casualty, workers’ compensation and crisis management claims, and is a past director of the Australian Insurance Law Association, having served two years as president and five as immediate past president.

Munich Re Specialty’s Australian head Chris Mackinnon says Mr Kench will start on July 1.

Meanwhile, Philip Steinbach says on LinkedIn that he has started work as head of surety underwriting for Australia at Munich Re Specialty – Global Markets.

Mr Mackinnon, formerly Lloyd’s regional director for Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa, was last year recruited to set up an Australian presence for Munich Re Specialty, taking up the role this year.
