Tower gives out climate study scholarships

Tower has awarded scholarships to three students in the University of Waikato’s Bachelor of Climate Change program.

The insurer has supported the program since 2021 and head of corporate affairs and sustainability Emily Davies says it is proud to help the university develop the next generation of climate leaders and problem-solvers.

Lagi Talalupe, Genifer Tadielo and Ayla Montgomerie have each received a $5000 scholarship to support their studies.

Ms Tadielo says that while climate change will lead to more frequent and severe claims, higher costs and changes in what can be insured in New Zealand, it will also drive innovation in technology and highlight the importance of education and sustainability.

“While the challenges are significant, they also present an opportunity for the industry to adapt and contribute to a more resilient future,” she said.
