Tributes to broking veteran who was ‘loved by all’

Broker Paul Burnell has died aged 70 after a short illness.

He was most recently an authorised representative of Action Insurance Brokers, based on the Gold Coast, for 15 years.

Action MD Jon Stack told insuranceNEWS.com.au Mr Burnell had more than 50 years’ experience as an underwriter and broker and was working full-time until a few weeks ago.

“Paul was a technical guru and a fountain of knowledge,” Mr Stack said. “Known as PB, he was loved and highly regarded by all.

“His sense of humour was the centrepiece of many team meetings. He will be greatly missed.”

Mr Stack says Mr Burnell was a keen golfer and nicknamed “rabbit” by golfing friends due to “his incredible luck on numerous occasions”.

Mr Burnell is survived by his wife Janet.
